Invitation

Dear Colleagues,

Amidst a period of major financial discomfort, both in Greece and abroad, and of radical sociopolitical changes in the southern Mediterranean region, advances and developments in Medicine constitute one of the few bright lights of human activity. The quest for ever improving therapies is as crucial as is the need for new and enhanced synergies in all medical fields. It is, therefore, with great pleasure that we announce the
organization of the 1st Joint Conference of the Hellenic College of Paediatrics and the Royal Society of Medicine, in Athens, May 27-28, 2011.

The meeting not only brings together some of the most renowned experts of Greece and the United Kingdom in the field of Paediatrics; it also combines the Greek and British experience in every day practice. A combination that can prove extremely helpful to the Paediatrician, who can pick the best from both worlds.

The programme of the Conference will deal with all aspects of the physical and mental health growth of children and adolescents in the fields of prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Your contribution to that will be of uttermost importance, since it is only through the exchange and dissemination of knowledge that science in general -and medicine, in particular- is advanced.

Bearing that in mind, we look forward to welcoming you all to -most likely- sunny Athens and to the works of the Conference, which we firmly believe will accumulate new “weapons” to our scientific arsenal. Especially for our British colleagues, this will also be an excellent opportunity to explore the new Acropolis museum, a feast for both visual and mental reflections!

With best wishes

George P. Chrousos

President of the Hellenic College of Pediatrics
